Creating a beautiful modern redesign of a primary bathroom. Optimizing space to create a larger walk-in shower with custom tiled shelving and beautiful tiled details throughout.
By focusing on smart layout changes and impecible craftsmanship, we turned a standard bathroom into a custom retreat that feels twice its original size.
When a bathroom feels cramped despite having a large footprint, the culprit is often an inefficient layout. For this project, our design team utilized over 20 years of experience to rethink the “unused” spaces. By reducing an oversized tub deck, we were able to give the homeowners the expansive, open-concept walk-in shower with built in shelving, something they didn’t even realized they always dreamed of having! You don’t always need more square-footage, you often just need to optimize your current space.
A full master bath footprint optimization, replacing a dated fiberglass unit with an expanded walk-in tile shower and premium Cambria quartz surfaces.
Maximizing the Master Bath
A Custom Tile and Space Transformation
The original bathroom was dominated by a standard fiberglass shower and a tub deck that took up more space than it provided in value. The homeowners wanted a modern, airy aesthetic without ripping out their soaking tub. They needed a partner who could dream up how to optimize the space and make it look fresh and beautiful.
Creating Space that Wasn’t There
Our design team identified a “void” in the existing tub deck. By shrinking the deck to a more intentional size, we gained enough room to install a significantly larger walk-in shower.
This structural shift also allowed us to get creative. In the space created by the new layout, we built three custom-integrated tiled shelves within the shower—a feature that quickly became both our team’s and the homeowner’s favorite detail of the remodel.
The Material Palette: Quartz, Glass, and Custom Finishes
To pull the new, open look together, we curated a high-end selection of materials. The clients came to our showroom to browse and selected these as their final choices:

Countertops: Premium Cambria quartz replaced the dated vanity tops for a non-porous, elegant finish.

Flooring: High-durability Shaw hard surface flooring was installed throughout for a seamless and beautiful look.

Fixtures: Polished brushed silver Delta fixtures were installed at the vanity and in the shower for a cohesive, modern look that played well with the tile color.

The Finishing Touch: After a fresh coat of paint, we installed a custom glass surround to keep the sightlines clear and the room feeling expansive.
The Result: A Master Retreat
Though the Mirasol tile used in this project has since been retired, the design principles remain a lovely inspiration for any bathroom remodel. By focusing on smart layout changes and meticulous craftsmanship, we turned a standard bathroom into a custom retreat that feels twice its original size.
